The Institute in the News
The institute's uniquely intensive pedagogy has drawn media attention since its inception. The scope of its ambitions and its influence on the teaching of classical languages continue to distinguish it today. The Institute has been featured in:
The Latin/Greek Institute was founded in 1973 as a collaborative effort between Brooklyn College and City University Graduate Center. Initially offering Latin instruction only, the Basic Greek program was launched in 1978. Advanced programs, later known as the Upper-level programs, were added in the years that followed.
Alumni
More than 2,000 students have trained in Latin and/or Greek at the institute. Many students develop lifelong friendships with each other over the summer; they also remain in contact with the institute for decades.
