M.S. Business Administration - General Business, Class of 2020
Like most of the things I do, choosing to attend Brooklyn College was spontaneous. I found myself continually procrastinating on going back to school. However, living in Brooklyn, you will see Brooklyn College everywhere. Whether a student wearing a school shirt on the train or posters posted around, Brooklyn College was always there. To me, I believed it was a sign to jump back into it. My mother always told me, “If you stop school now, you are never going to go back.” Although it was fresh, I felt myself enjoying life for once without having assignments or upcoming tests; however, I know I could do more in a career with another degree.
From undergraduate to graduate school, I noticed that the information taught in graduate school took an extra step. The way I look at it, your undergraduate degree teaches you the who, what, when, and where. However, graduate school teaches you the why and how. Like putting a puzzle together, you are giving all the pieces and instructions but you don’t know the reason behind the puzzle or what method to take to complete the puzzle. My degree prepared me to look from all angles, not solely the angle assigned to me.
This program fits your needs. Not once did I have to struggle to accommodate furthering my education for external reasons. Currently, I was hired as an Area Manager for Amazon in New Jersey. I know my degree has given me the skills I need to be successful in this position.
To all incoming graduate students, please do it! If you needed a sign to continue your education, here it is. I took a break between undergrad and grad, and it gave me time to establish myself. I knew my mission was not over. I wanted to try to earn my MBA while still in the flow of school and assignments. I was hesitant about going back to school, but I wanted to rip the band-aid off. Try to find what works best for you.
