Reentry, Travel, and Other Important Updates for Faculty
November 9, 2021
Dear colleagues,
I hope your semester has been going well. I have been enjoying my work back on campus and have been focused on reentry. I write to provide you updates and information that faculty have requested. I will provide a more comprehensive Academic Affairs’ update in December.
1. The Reentry Review Board (RRB)
The College’s Reentry Review Board still exists and reviews all applications for special events and research lab reentry on campus initiated by staff and faculty. If you have a request, please send it directly to me. I will acknowledge it and place it on the RRB agenda. The RRB meets weekly. We generally review the prior week’s requests on Tuesdays, and I notify the requestors by the following Saturday or Sunday. If you have questions about a request, do not hesitate to reach out: anne.lopes@brooklyn.cuny.edu.
2. Travel
- Study abroad will be relaunched in spring 2022. Please stay tuned for details.
- Travel remains restricted. All details can be found here.
- To note: faculty, graduate students, and staff using college funds to travel both domestically and internationally must complete the CUNY travel petition form (pdf) well in advance and request my approval before they travel. The form includes detailed information about the university’s travel policies and procedures as does the Global CUNY travel site. Please send the completed form to Mohamed Tabrani, Director of International Programs and Study Abroad, at mohamed.tabrani@brooklyn.cuny.edu. Director Tabrani can begin the review and further advise you if you have questions. He will route the form to me. Additional guidelines for Principal Investigators are available through the CUNY Research Foundation site and portal.
Because the policy and the form are subject to frequent changes, please refer to the following links for up-to-date information. The first two links are policy statements, while the third includes the most practical information

3. Contact Tracing
Some faculty have asked for more detail on the college’s contact tracing process. The procedures the college uses can be found here.
4. Office Hours
Unfortunately, I have been unable to provide open hours this semester. I plan to go back to offering them in January. In the interim, if you would like to speak with me, please email me directly or contact Ronnie Khan ronnieK@brooklyn.cuny.edu for an appointment.
5. Events
The Women's and Gender Studies Program and The Women's Center at Brooklyn College cordially invite you to their eighth annual Women's Leadership Mentor Symposium on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. This virtual symposium will feature Brooklyn College alumni and professionals from a variety of fields. Students will have the opportunity to speak with those in their area of interest. Please tell your students and bring your class!
