Provost May Letter to Faculty—Staffing and New CUNY and RRB Guest Policy
May 10, 2022
Dear colleagues,
I hope this e-mail finds you well and enjoying the academic year’s end. The start of the fall 2022 semester will bring a number of important staffing changes to Academic Affairs.
Dean Maria Conelli is stepping down as Dean of the School of Visual Media and Performing Arts on August 25 and returning to her faculty role in the Department of Art. Dean Conelli oversaw the development of the Tow Center and well as the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, transformative accomplishments, among many others, for the inaugural academic leader of the school. Professor María Pérez y González will become the Interim Dean effective at the start of the fall semester.
Associate Provost Tammy Lewis will return to her faculty role in the Department of Sociology effective August 25. Please join me in thanking Tammy for her outstanding service. She has been a wonderful partner in this work. Thoughtful, diligent, and caring, she leaves us an array of accomplishments that will support the administration of faculty affairs for years to come. Effective August 25, James Eaton will become Associate Dean for Faculty and Administration and report directly to me.
Stefano Ghirlanda is stepping down as the Director of the Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn. Lisa Schwebel will become a Senior Director whose portfolio will include both the new undergraduate research initiative and Macaulay.
Please join me in thanking all of these extremely dedicated, knowledgeable, and hard-working individuals.
Additionally, the RRB has updated the visitor policy. Please note that there are multiple categories of visitors, each with their own requirements. Most important, visitors attending campus events do not need to be entered into Cleared4 and C-Entry at this time. Departments, however, must coordinate with public safety and check the vaccination or testing status of all their guests upon entry to the event they are hosting. Full guidelines are available here.
I look forward to seeing you at commencement and wish you a great end to the academic year.
As ever, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly (x 3594; anne.lopes@brooklyn.cuny.edu).
All best regards,
Anne
