Return to Campus Letter #14 Vaccine Verification and New Employee Return Date
Return to Campus Letter #14
July 28, 2021
Dear Brooklyn College community,
This Return to Campus Letter is the 14th in a series describing our preparations for the fall semester and our focus on health and safety in that work. In my last letter, I discussed the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance for institutions of higher education. In this letter, I’d like to share some additional information we have about the fall semester.
This week, CUNY Chancellor Felix Matos Rodriguez issued an update that moved the day that remote employees will begin to return to on-campus work from August 2 to August 16. He also clarified that the University is instituting a testing protocol for all faculty and staff who are unvaccinated or refuse to disclose their vaccination status, the details of which will be forthcoming. For more information about remote employees returning to work on campus, please refer to this FAQ.
In the meantime, students and employees can verify their vaccination status by signing into CUNYfirst and clicking on the “Vaccine Verification” link on the left column. There, you can input the date of your second shot of Pfizer/Moderna or the date of your single shot of Johnson & Johnson, as well as a photograph of your CDC COVID-19 vaccination record card. (Other vaccines approved by the World Health Organization will also be accepted.) I posted my vaccination record in CUNYfirst yesterday, and it went smoothly.
For employees, you can receive up to four hours of paid time off for each dose of the COVID vaccine. Get vaccinated during work hours, and we will pay for your time. For students, you can review details of the student vaccination policy in this FAQ. For any employees or students who have been holding out on getting vaccinated, now is the time. Vaccinations are entirely safe and effective. Thank you for caring for our community!
Yours sincerely,
Michelle J. Anderson
