BC Student Email
All Brooklyn College students receive a CUNY cloud e-mail account hosted by Microsoft 365. Your account also provides access to Web and downloadable versions of the complete Microsoft Office suite.
What is my Brooklyn College student e-mail address?
Your student e-mail address is automatically assigned to you and uses the following format: Your CUNYfirst username followed by @bcmail.cuny.edu (e.g., your.username##@bcmail.cuny.edu). The numbers are the last two digits of you CUNY EMPLID.
How do I check my BC student e-mail on the Web?
Go to www.office.com and enter your e-mail address and your CUNYfirst password. Select Outlook from the list of the programs.
What is my e-mail password?
Your e-mail password is your CUNYfirst password. Use the login tools available at cuny.edu to manage your password.
Why Does My Student Email Account Require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication improves account security by adding a second way (factor), beyond your username and password, to verify that you are actually signing in to your account. The second factor for your Brooklyn College email account is a verification code sent to an option of your choosing: SMS/text, voice call, or the free Microsoft Authenticator app. When you sign in to your email for the first time on a new device or application you’ll be prompted to enter this verification code to prove who you are.
How do I change the way I receive my Multi-Factor Authentication code?
You can choose to receive your Multi-Factor Authentication code by SMS/text, voice call, email or using the Microsoft Authenticator app. You can change the way you receive your verification code from your Microsoft account page:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account page
- Click the Security Info option
- Select the option to add a new method or update an existing method
I lost access to my Multi-Factor Authentication device, what should I do?
If you added multiple MFA verification options (you are encouraged to do so), select one of the other options to receive the code then go to your Microsoft account page to remove the lost device. If you don’t have a secondary verification option registered, contact the college help desk at 718-951-4357 for assistance. See more tips from Microsoft.
Can I still use my personal e-mail account?
You can provide Brooklyn College with a personal (preferred) e-mail account (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) via WebCentral that will be used for all internal college transactional e-mails from your professors.
However, even with your specified personal e-mail, some official CUNY correspondence (CUNY Blackboard, CLEARED4, and more) will be sent only to your Brooklyn College mailbox. To avoid missing some important communications, we advise you to still check your official college mailbox regularly!
How do I setup my college student e-mail account on my computer or mobile device?
- Configuring Android Device for BC Student E-mail
- Configuring iPhone and iPad for BC Student E-mail
- Setting Up BC Student E-Mail in Microsoft Outlook
- Access to Brooklyn College Student E-Mail on the Web
What happens to my e-mail after graduation?
Keep your account even after you graduate. Your e-mail account will not be deleted after you graduate - only its look changes. However, to ensure that your messages and files are kept intact, you must login to your account at least once every semester, otherwise your content will be cleared, while your e-mail account remains.
Where do I go for help?
If you are unable to log in to your Brooklyn College student e-mail account or need help configuring your device, contact the Help Desk at 718.951.4357 or via e-mail.
