To the Brooklyn College Community,
This March we celebrate Women’s History Month and recognize the sacrifices, contributions, and achievements of the women at Brooklyn College and around the world. This month we also recognize the historical nomination of the first African American woman to the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Esq.
This month is a great time to acknowledge and celebrate the women who have inspired positive change and impacted your lives. I invite you to participate in the variety of programs and events celebrating diversity this month.
March is also designated as the following:
- Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
- Ethnic Equality Month
- Gender Equality Month
- Greek-American Heritage Month
- Irish-American Heritage Month
- National Multiple Sclerosis Education and Awareness Month
The following events take place or are celebrated in March:
- March 1: Mardi Gras
- March 2: Ash Wednesday
- March 8: International Women's Day
- March 8: United Nations Day for Women's Rights and International Peace
- March 11: World Day of Muslim Culture, Peace, Dialogue, and Film
- March 14: Pi Day
- March 16: St. Urho Day
- March 16–17: Purim
- March 17: St. Patrick's Day
- March 20–21: Naw-Ruz (Baha'i New Year)
- March 25: International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade
