Dear Brooklyn College Community,
The Office of Diversity and Equity Programs welcomes you back to the college.
Unfortunately, we are seeing an ugly and unacceptable rise in attacks on the bases of religion and race. This is unacceptable. During this time of uncertainty, it is important that we embrace and respect our differences.
February is the month that we make special effort to celebrate the achievements of African Americans/Blacks. I invite you to take time to celebrate the accomplishments of African Americans and continue to do so throughout the year. Additionally, February offers opportunities to celebrate diversity. The following events take place or are celebrated in February:
- February 4: Rosa Parks Day
- February 12: Chinese New Year
- February 15: Nirvana Day
- February 17: Ash Wednesday
- February 20: World Day of Social Justice
