Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSP) for Animal Handlers
Each Brooklyn College faculty or staff member, or student handling or working with live vertebrate animals, must participate in the OHSP for Animal Handlers. Prior to the direct contact with live vertebrate animals, these individuals need to:
- complete (provide all requested information) a medical surveillance questionnaire;
- submit the completed form to the designated campus health professional;
- if applicable, respond promptly to communication from the health professional staff regarding providing missing information and/or obtaining medical services (e.g., tetanus immunization) necessary to receive occupational health program approval to handle and/or work with live vertebrate animals; and
- obtain approval prior to handling or working with live vertebrate animals from the designated health professional.
