I/O Personnel and Human Resources M.A.
This program prepares the student for entry-level analyst and associate positions in the areas of personnel and human resources in organizations. It shares a common core of five courses with other concentrations in industrial and organizational psychology, but places additional emphasis on theory, research, and practice in areas such as human resource management, job analysis, recruitment, selection, training, compensation, retention, and outplacement.
Degree Requirements
The program requires students to take a total of 33 to 36 credits, depending on whether or not they decide to complete a thesis. The M.A. thesis is not a requirement. Students who wish to complete a thesis should get in touch with a potential adviser in their first semester.
- No-thesis option: Total credits required: 36
- Thesis option: 30 + M.A. Thesis, PSYC 7781, a three-credit course.
Comprehensive examination is a requirement of the program and students are eligible to take it when they have registered for their 24th credit.

Specialization Requirements (3 courses, 9 hours)

Electives (6–12 credits)
The remaining six to 12 credits (depending on whether thesis option or not) consist of elective courses and must be 7000-level or higher.
Internships
Internships are not required but strongly encouraged.
