Spring 2022
Social Hour
Hosted by Prof. Maumus
Thursday, April 28, 2022
12:30–1:30 p.m.
Philosophy Department Lounge (3308 Boylan)
Is our mentality inherently a function of our biology? Do our minds only exist within the boundaries of our skulls? Or might something completely outside our brains and bodies – like our smartphones, tablets, and laptops – legitimately be a part of our minds?
As a warm-up for this year’s Sprague and Taylor lecture (as well as for his own “Philosophical Issues in Cognitive Science” course in Fall 2022), Prof. Maumus will be discussing David Chalmers’ (and Andy Clark’s) radical “Extended Mind” hypothesis.
Please join us for a free-flowing Social Hour discussion and bring your minds (biological or otherwise!)
