Fieldwork Opportunities for Undergraduates
Psychology 9.1—Fieldwork in Psychology, Psychology 27.1—Field Experience in Child Psychology, and Psychology 33.1—Field Experience in Psychopathology offer students opportunities to learn and serve in a wide range of settings working primarily in agencies serving a variety of populations. Field sites include special pre-schools for language-delayed children, battered women's shelters, after-school programs serving at-risk pre-adolescents and adolescents, various psychological and psychiatric hospital settings, and special programs involving conflict resolution, academic enrichment, and mentoring opportunities.
Four to six hours of weekly fieldwork, training, supervision, weekly seminars, reading, and journal keeping are required. These courses are highly recommended for students interested in exploring and preparing for jobs and graduate study in clinical psychology, social work, school psychology, medical schools and related health professions, and special education.
