- ANTH 3530 or CORC 3208 Cultural Studies of Modern Israel—in Israel
- ANTH 3470 Archaeological Excavations—in Serbia
Tentative Timetable
- Sudent prep meetings, Israel (6–9 p.m.)
- Student prep meeting, Serbia (6–9 p.m.)
- Leave for Israel (JFK-TA, Delta, 6 p.m.)
- Arrive Israel; bus to Hebrew University dorms
- Classes begin (afternoons, 2–5 p.m.) ANTH 11
- First bus trip: Carmel Caves, Ubedeiyah
- Second bus trip: 'Ain Melaha, Netiv Hagdud, Nachal Oren
- Third bus trip: Beersheva, Lachish
- Fourth bus trip: Qumran, Masada, Herodium
- Final Exam
- End of first module: some students return to New York; others remain in Jerusalem dorms
- Classes begin for ANTH 3530/CORC3208 (mornings, 10 a.m.–noon)
- Final Exam
- End of second module: some students return to New York; others fly to Belgrade (bus transportation to Loznica, one hour from Belgrade)
- Classes and excavation begin for ANTH 3470
- First bus trip: Syrmium (Ancient Roman capital) and a visit to Gomolava (Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Ancient Roman sites)
- Second bus trip: Vinca (Neolithic metropolis on the Danube), Belgrade
- Third bus trip: Gamzigrad (one of the best preserved Roman Palaces)
- Return to New York
