CIS Brooklyn College Student Wins Weill Cornell AI Health Hackathon

OpenCell AI Demo - AI HEALTH HACKATHON 2020
Nelson Wang, a computer science major at Brooklyn College, competed in the 2020 AI Health hackathon at Weill Cornell Medicine, the biomedical research unit and medical school of Cornell University. His team won the thousand dollar award for the best diagnosis application while competing against around 200 of the top world students (some already taking their Ph.D., MBA, MEng) coming from schools such as Columbia University, MIT, NYU, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.Wang's team developed a website app implementing AI for cancer detection, such as leukemia, to help doctors screen hundreds of patients for cancer in a matter of milliseconds.
Wang's role on the team was to develop the front-end and back-end of the web app, including the implementation and parsing of the ML model trained by teammate Vladyslav Kuz, from Rutgers.
