Ensemble Auditions
Dear Brooklyn College students, staff and faculty,
Do you play an instrument, or sing or did you used to play in high school? Want to get back into it?
The Conservatory of Music holds open auditions for our instrumental and vocal ensembles each semester, the week of the first day of classes. Students interested in joining an ensemble should fill out the audition request form below and prepare a piece (or pieces) of your choosing that best showcases your playing: 3-5 minutes of music.
The ensembles include The Brooklyn College Big Band and Conservatory Jazz Ensemble, Conservatory Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Brooklyn College Symphonic Choir, Conservatory Singers, and Glee Club.
If you pass the audition, you may play in the ensemble for credit or as an “auditor” (community member).
The ensembles meet at these times:
- Orchestra (Tues/Thurs) 4-6:30 p.m. plus 3 concerts
- Big Band and Jazz Ensemble (Tuesdays) 6:40-9:10 p.m. plus 1 end of semester concert
- Wind Ensemble (Wednesdays) 6:40-9:10 p.m. plus 1 end of semester concert
- Symphonic Choir (Wednesdays) 6:40-9:10 p.m. plus 1 end of semester concert
- Glee Club (Wednesdays) 4-6:30pm plus 1 end of semester concert
- Conservatory Singers (Mondays) 6:40-9:10 p.m. plus 1 end of semester concert
