Navigating the Economy and Financial Markets During the Pandemic

Navigating the Economy & Financial Markets During the Pandemic | Koppelman Leadership Speaker Series

March 11, 2021

Speaker: Abby Joseph Cohen, Advisor Director and Senior Strategist, Goldman Sachs

Government and the Fed’s policies are crucial in supporting economic growth and employment in turbulent times. Although economists broadly agree on policies that are helpful in boosting an economy out of a typical recession, navigating through the fallout of the pandemic remains particularly challenging. In this webinar, Abby Joseph Cohen will discuss:

  • What is the state of the economy and the financial markets? Why do we talk about a K shaped recovery?
  • What will be the impact of the third stimulus that just passed Congress?
  • Will there be a danger for inflation?
  • How will NYC and NYS get out of the crisis that hit the city the hardest?

Abby Joseph Cohen is the Advisory Director and Senior Strategist at Goldman Sachs. She is a member of the Investment Committee for the firm’s U.S. retirement plans and the liaison to the National Defense University of the U.S. Department of Defense. Previously, Abby was chief U.S. investment strategist and president of the Global Markets Institute. She joined Goldman Sachs in 1990 and was named partner in 1998. She began her career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. Abby is recognized as a leader in U.S. portfolio strategy and was ranked No.1 by Institutional Investor and Greenwich Associates. Her career is the subject of a Harvard Business School case study, a Business Week cover story, and a profile in the New Yorker.
