"Under no circumstances should you underestimate Brooklyn College or the CUNY system, especially if you are pursuing an honors program. I say that because when you're in an honors program your advisers and professors know that you are a high-quality student who could have gone to other schools. Because of this, they give you free rein to pursue what you love and have faith in you that you will succeed because students from the honors programs really do go on to do great things."

"My advice to you is to join the Honors Academy if you can. If you don't get into a program out of high school, know that you can still apply to the Scholars Program in your first year at Brooklyn College. Also, get involved. Plan on spending your time on campus. There are many groups that you can join or you can start a new group. Make Brooklyn College your own."

"My words of wisdom would be to study abroad. If you can, do it for a semester or year no matter how scary that is. It is so important, and you get so much out of it. You'll be able to not only apply what you learned in the classroom but you will apply what you learned in study abroad back to classroom. I've gotten so much more out of my education at Brooklyn College because I've traveled and because I was able to apply my experiences to my education."

"Get involved with as much as you possibly can because that is where you will find joy. College is what you put into it more than what you can get from it. You have to be proactive and take the initiative to get what you want because if you just sit around and wait for it come to you, it's not going to happen. That's an important learning experience, too, because that's how life is."
