Contact Us
ThePersonal Counseling Program primarily serves Brooklyn College students, staff, and faculty. We may be able to offer some general and referral information to other members of the local community. Indicate your college affiliation in your message when you e-mail us.
Keep in mind that e-mail, while reasonably secure, is not considered to be absolutely secure and confidential. Unless encrypted, there is some risk of interception during transmission on the Internet. Use an e-mail account and content that do not identify you personally. You may prefer to call, fax, or come in person if you wish to communicate about details that you want to keep absolutely confidential.
While we attempt to respond to e-mail messages as promptly as possible, you may not receive a reply for several days. (No replies are made on weekends and holidays, for example.) If your situation is an emergency, call or come to the office during business hours. Otherwise, call or go to the nearest hospital emergency room. (Kings County Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Room is at 606 Winthrop Street, 718.245.2310.) You can also call 911 in an emergency. 800.LIFE.NET is a 24-hour hotline for emergency mental health assistance and referral information.
We regret that, because of the volume of messages, we cannot reply to every e-mail from those who are not affiliated with the college.
You may find counseling helpful. Consult our brochure Finding the Right Counselor or Psychotherapist for You.
