Keep in mind:
- Liability charges will include student fees and materials fees for courses dropped on or after the first day of the semester/session.
- Courses must be officially dropped prior to the first day of the semester/session in order to avoid any liability charges listed above. If courses are added after the semester begins, the liability schedule still applies.
- Failure to submit payment or attend classes is not considered an official drop. It is the student's responsibility to manage his or her enrollment.
Swapping Courses
If you intend to drop one course and add another in its place:
- Use the SWAP option on your CUNYfirst account for this transaction.
- You can be charged a certain percentage tuition for the difference in credits if the added course is fewer credits than the dropped course.
- Be aware that there is a change of program fee associated with any changes you make to your schedule after the semester begins.
Unsuccessful Grades
Failure to attend courses or drop courses in a timely manner can result in the following grades, which all carry 100% tuition liability:
- W—Assigned to students who withdraw from their courses after the drop period. W grades do not factor into the GPA but appear on a student's transcript.
- WN—Assigned to student who never participated in an academically related activity and did not officially withdraw. This grade will not appear on your transcript.
- WU—Assigned to students who stop attending courses but do not officially withdraw from courses. Student participated at least once in an academically related activity.
- INC/FINC—INC grades are assigned at the professor's discretion to students who do not complete the full course work for a class. An INC could become an FINC and be calculated as an F grade into your GPA.
