Volunteer, Research, and Internship Opportunities
Through volunteer work, research projects, and internship opportunities in a clinical or academic setting, pre-med and pre-health students learn valuable skills, gain experience, and strengthen their application to a graduate or professional school of their choice.
Visit the websites of hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and health organizations in your area to learn more about the volunteer services, research opportunities, and internship opportunities offered to students. Some programs may require pre-requisite courses, online applications, letters of recommendation, personal interviews, and specific total hours of service. Do not wait until your last year in school to begin your volunteer, internship, and/or research experience in a hospital, rehabilitation center, health organization, etc.
SERVA
In recognition of the importance of volunteer service in leadership development, Brooklyn College operates the SERVA Program. SERVA is a registry of students' volunteer service and a source for information on volunteer opportunities both on and off campus. Eligible students performing significant volunteer service can receive a service honors notation on their college transcript.
