We invite you to join a conversation about racism and Integrity First for America’s current efforts to fight back against white supremacy using the justice system. Sociology Professor Lawrence Johnson will provide commentary on the general context of racism through the standpoint of critical race theory. Following this, Anthropology Professor Rhea Rahman will moderate a conversation with Integrity First for America (IFA) Executive Director Amy Spitalnick and attorney Michael Bloch—two of the leaders at the helm of a landmark lawsuit to take on the leaders at the center of the violent white supremacist movement.
Three years ago, neo-Nazis and white supremacists descended on Charlottesville, VA for a weekend of violence. This violence was no accident—rather, it was the result of months of planning. And it served as a harbinger of the cycle of white supremacist violence that has followed.
IFA, in partnership with a world-class legal team, is uniquely taking on the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups at the center of this violent movement to hold them accountable in federal court for the violence they brought to Charlottesville in 2017. This lawsuit is heading to trial and has the potential to fundamentally disrupt this movement by winning devastating financial judgments against these neo-Nazi groups and their leaders.
Taking on, and taking down, these violent extremists is all the more critical as we see them try to exploit recent protests to spread disinformation, fear, and violence. The urgency of this case is even more clear as our country faces a much-needed public reckoning on racial injustice.
