Message From the Dean
HSS Colleagues,
Congratulations! We did it! We made it through an entire academic year of pandemic-related online Brooklyn College. We never would have pulled this off without everyone, faculty, students, staff and administration pulling together and giving it our all. I am proud to be a part of this team with you. And congratulations to our graduating seniors and graduate students! You have an impressive tale to tell of how you made it to the finish line under unimaginably trying conditions. Caps off to you!
And as if those accomplishments were not enough, we managed to celebrate student excellence with our first annual School of Humanities and Social Sciences Student Expo, the story of which is featured in this newsletter. Seeing our students shine in these Expo events was unquestionably the highlight of the semester for me. Our ability to make the Expo happen, after being forced to cancel last year, is yet another testament to the value of each part of our school working together as a team in the interest of student success. Thank you all for your contributions, participation, assistance and support.
To our faculty and students not teaching or taking classes with us this summer, go get some well-earned rest. Recharge for an exciting, gradual return to campus next academic year. Know that the staff and administration will be here working full time to keep the college moving forward and preparing for that long-awaited return to on-campus activity. We will take some breaks too so we are rested and ready to go when August rolls around.
Enjoy this final issue of Critical Thinking for the 2020-21 academic year. Thanks again for your patience, endurance, commitment, and support though all of this. I hope you all have a good and successful conclusion to the semester, and a terrific, restorative summer. Congratulations to our graduating seniors and master's students! We are awed by your determination and resilience. You make us all proud. We are all looking forward to brighter days ahead. Have a great summer!
Ken
