Exploring Your Options for Graduate Study
On November 21, 2019 the School of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted a workshop and reception for the many HSS students with GPAs over 3.50 who may not be aware of their options for graduate study whether at Brooklyn College, the CUNY Graduate Center, or other programs in the New York area. This evening event in the Christoph M. Kimmich Reading Room brought a number of current students and recent alumni now pursuing graduate degrees together with professional advisers, to ask questions and share their knowledge and insights.
Some of the many invited guests included Gerry Martini from the CUNY Graduate Center Admissions Office; Abdul Aziz from the Brooklyn College Office of Graduate Admissions; Francesco Calabrese, Brooklyn College financial aid specialist; and Pamela Brown, Magner Center law school adviser. Teanu Reid, now pursuing a Ph.D. in African-American history at Yale, and Régulo Silva, a doctoral student in Hispanic languages and literature at SUNY-Stony Brook, related their challenges in approaching their graduate school studies and offered tips to the attendees.
