Entering Transfer Students
The number of Pathways courses you will be required to take at Brooklyn College depends on your transfer credit evaluation.
If You Have an A.A. or A.S. Degree From a Domestic College
You will receive a blanket exemption for the Required Core and Flexible Core areas, and your College Option requirement will be reduced from 12 credits to six credits. Furthermore, it's possible you may receive transfer credit for these six credits, in which case your Pathways requirements would be complete. However, if you do not receive transfer credits for these six credits of College Option, you will need to complete two appropriate College Option courses (six credits) at Brooklyn College. Please refer to "A Breakdown of Pathways at Brooklyn College," or consult an academic advisor to confirm which College Option courses would be appropriate.
If You Have an A.A.S. Degree From a Domestic College
Your College Option requirement will be reduced from 12 credits to six credits, but you will not receive a blanket exemption for the Required Core and Flexible Core areas. Instead, all your transfer credits that are applicable to Pathways will be applied on a course-by-course basis, and you will need to complete all outstanding Pathways requirements at Brooklyn College. Please meet with an academic adviser to review your remaining Pathways requirements.
If You Transfer More Than 30 Credits With No Associate's Degree
Your College Option requirement will be reduced from 12 credits to nine credits. All your transfer credits that are applicable to Pathways will be applied on a course-by-course basis, and you will need to complete all outstanding Pathways requirements at Brooklyn College. Please meet with an academic adviser to review your remaining Pathways requirements.
If You Transfer 30 or Fewer Credits
All your transfer credits that are applicable to Pathways will be applied on a course-by-course basis, and you will need to complete all outstanding Pathways requirements at Brooklyn College. Please meet with an academic adviser to review your remaining Pathways requirements.
If You Are a Second Degree Student
If you have earned a baccalaureate degree from an institution that is accredited and recognized by a regional accrediting U.S. agency, you will receive a blanket exemption for all Pathways requirements. If you have earned a baccalaureate degree from an international university that CUNY determines equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree, you will receive a blanket exemption for all Pathways requirements except English Composition I (ENGL 1010) and English Composition II (ENGL 1012).
