The Claire Tow '52 Distinguished Teacher Award
Namita Manohar, Sociology
This award ($10,000) was established through a generous gift from Leonard Tow, a member of the Class of 1950, in honor of his wife, a member of the class of 1952. It will be presented to a full-time faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching effectiveness, mastery and creative application of pedagogic techniques, and dedication to helping students achieve the highest academic standards.
Award for Excellence in Teaching for Full-Time Faculty
Brigid O'Keeffe, History
This award ($5,000) will be presented to a full-time faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching effectiveness.
Award for Excellence in Teaching for Part-Time Faculty
Sue-Ann Lallay, Psychology
This award ($5,000) will be presented to a part-time (adjunct) faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching effectiveness.
Award for Excellence in Creative Achievement
Helen Phillips, English
This award ($5,000) will be presented to a faculty member (or "team") who has demonstrated excellence in creative or artistic work.
Award for Excellence in Research
Brigid O'Keeffe, History
This award ($5,000) will be presented to a faculty member (or "team") who has demonstrated excellence in research.
Outstanding Graduate Student Mentor Award
Rona Miles, Psychology
This award ($1,500) will be presented to a faculty member for outstanding contributions as an advisor, mentor, and instructor to graduate students.
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Mentor Award
Yung-Yi Diana Pan, Sociology
This award ($1,500) will be presented to a faculty member for outstanding contributions as an advisor, mentor, and instructor to undergraduate students.
Eric M. Steinberg Award for College Citizenship
Lauren Mancia, History and Studies in Religion Program
This award ($5,000) will be presented to a faculty member (or "team") for exceptional service to Brooklyn College community and/or fulfilling the college’s mission in our relationships with communities in the greater New York area and beyond.
