Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Alliance (LGBTA)
The LGBTA is the student organization at Brooklyn College for gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, transgender, genderqueer, gender-diverse, intersex, and queer students and allies. The LGBTA aims to increase queer and trans visibility on campus and to create and provide a more accepting, safe, affirming and inclusive environment for all LGBTQIA students to organize, socialize, and find and share resources. We are one of the largest and most active clubs on campus and have found strong allies in other clubs and faculty organizations with whom we often collaborate with for events.
GLBTQ Advocacy in Research and Education (GLARE)
Founded by faculty in the School of Education, GLARE is a group of the school's faculty and staff who are committed to the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or gender nonconforming children and youth. Its mission is to prepare future educators who are able to foster school climates that affirm the dignity of all. The members of GLARE are interested in collaborating with other Brooklyn College faculty and staff to confront LGBTQ discrimination in all its forms and to create a campus environment where all students, faculty and staff are welcomed and where all facets of the college's diversity are celebrated.
