This immersive, noncredit certificate provides early career associates and designers with the range of skills that are standard in the working studios of the industry's top designers.
Designed for graduate students, undergraduates, and industry professionals alike, the Broadway Associate Certificate provides participants with an intensive, hands-on approach that articulates and demystifies industry standards, and confers a practical skillset in industry-standard design and communication. At the same time, the program embeds the curriculum within the larger theater community of New York, introducing (or enhancing) students' industry network and contacts.

Curriculum Overview
The curriculum includes five courses: four technical courses, each of which meets for two weeks from 9 a.m. to noon, and a framing class, which will meet during the summer at various times in theaters all over New York City. The sequence of study is designed to maximize your understanding and application of the material. Students will be expected to work for three to five hours on their homework assignments for maximum benefit.

Vectorworks in Theatrical Design
Take your knowledge of Vectorworks to the next level by working on techniques that are used across the industry in top studios.
Associate Lighting Design Practices
Deliver paperwork, communication, and common practices at a professional level. Emphasis on lighting communication and Vectorworks drawing standards.
Associate Set Design Practices
Deliver paperwork, communication, and common practices at a professional level. Emphasis on set communication and Autocad drawing standards.
Advanced Rendering Techniques
Create digital renderings using Photoshop and Vectorworks and learn the practice of using a rendering, in both 3D and 2D, as a tool in theatrical design.
* Students may enroll in individual technical courses on a space-available basis. Individual courses are noncredit and cost $800.
Framing Course
New York City Works
Meet working artists and see new theater and special exhibits with the lens of a working designer. Work with your classmates to create a foundation of resources in New York, and utilize the course as a springboard to initiate a lifetime of connections across the arts industry.
Tuition
$1,950 for all five classes over June and July. Technical courses can be taken individually, but most students enroll for the full two months, immersing themselves in the program full time. Housing near the Brooklyn College campus is available through the Kenilworth Residence House.
