Students are reviewed annually at the end of each academic year. After review, Brooklyn College will notify any student who failed to meet SAP.
SAP Standards
All students will be measured against each of the three SAP standards at the end of the spring term to determine eligibility for receipt of Title IV student financial assistance in the upcoming year.
Qualitative Standards: Cumulative Grade Point Average
- 2.00 GPA for undergraduate programs unless otherwise specified in SAP policy
- 3.00 GPA for graduate programs
Quantitative Standards: Pace of Progression
Pace of progression is calculated by dividing the cumulative hours that you have successfully completed by the cumulative credits you have attempted.
Undergraduate Standards
For baccalaureate programs, accumulated (or earned) credits must be equal to or greater than a certain percentage of the total credits attempted. Examples of Progression:
Attempted | 15 | 30 | 45 | 60 | 75 | 90 | 105 | 120 | 135 | 150 | 165 | 180 | 180+ |
Credits Earned | 0 | 5 | 16 | 27 | 39 | 50 | 61 | 72 | 84 | 95 | 106 | 120 | Fail |
Graduate Standards
At least 67 percent of all credits attempted must have passing grades.
Maximum Time Frame
Undergraduate and graduate students must complete a degree or certificate program in no more than 150 percent of the average published length of the program.
Your Right to Appeal
If you fail to meet any of the standards above, you can submit a SAP appeal to request a reinstatement of financial aid.
