Brooklyn College Featured in The Princeton Review’s “Best 387 Colleges” Guide for 2022

The Princeton Review

The Princeton Review

Leading senior CUNY college joins only approximately 14% of America’s 2,700 four-year institutions that are profiled in the 30th anniversary edition of the book.

Adding to the list of recent accolades it received this year, Brooklyn College is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduates, according to The Princeton Review®.

Brooklyn College was also named to the list of “Great Race/Class Interaction”—along with only 18 others nationwide—and was a selection for the “Best Northeastern” colleges. Earlier this year, The Princeton Review named Brooklyn College a “Best Value College,” ranking it no. 20 on its list of the “Top 20 Best Schools for Financial Aid (Public Schools).” It also was ranked no. 35 for Top 50 Best Value Colleges (Public Schools) and made the list of Green Colleges.

“Being included among the strongest institutions of higher education in the nation is a testament to the excellence and hard work of our students, staff, and faculty, particularly during these challenging times,” said Brooklyn College President Michelle J. Anderson. “We look forward to building on this success, as we continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities to our diverse students.”

In the book, The Princeton Review called Brooklyn College “the perfect representative of Brooklyn as a borough and of success in the community,” adding the college “educates its students in an environment that reflects diversity, opportunity (study abroad, research, athletics, employment), and support, while boasting a beautiful campus.”

"We salute Brooklyn College for its outstanding academics, and we are genuinely pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their ‘best-fit’ college,” said Rob Franek, The Princeton Review's editor-in-chief and lead author of The Best 387 Colleges.

The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book from 1 to 387. Brooklyn College’s inclusion in the 30th anniversary edition of the book is solely due to Princeton Review’s high opinion of the college’s outstanding academic programs.

Only approximately 14% of America’s 2,700 four-year colleges are profiled in The  Best 387 Colleges, one of The Princeton Review’s most popular publications. The company chooses the colleges for the book based on data it annually collects from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from its surveys of college students at the colleges who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences.

This recognition is one of several the college has enjoyed over the past year. Others include:

  • “Most Affordable College in the Nation”—Intelligent.com (March 2021)
  • “One of the Top Public Liberal Arts Colleges in Nation”—AcademicInfluence.com (February 2021)
  • “Biggest Bang for Your Buck”—Forbes (December 2020)
  • “Most Ethnically Diverse Campus”—U.S. News & World Report (September 2021, third straight year Brooklyn College earned this distinction)
