COVID-19: Brooklyn College Responds

Students, faculty, and staff embrace distance learning and remote working for the spring semester.
During this ongoing pandemic, the well-being of the Brooklyn College community has been a top priority, and faculty and staff have been working hard to safeguard our campus while continuing Brooklyn College’s mission to provide an outstanding education to our students.
Beginning March 12, the City University of New York called a week-long institutional recess so that faculty could prepare to transition from in-classroom teaching to a distance learning format. During this time faculty trained to use online tools for teaching remotely. To help students without computers at home to continue their coursework, the college distributed laptops to check out on loan. Beginning March 19, all staff has been working from home wherever possible, in line with city, state, and nationwide efforts to minimize the spread of the virus by social distancing.
A crisis like COVID-19 has highlighted the vast needs of many of our students. Services such as the food pantry remain a vital resource and will need increasing, ongoing support. Emergency grants will also provide vital funds to students in need, particularly as economic struggles reach far and wide.
