Admission Deferral Form for General Freshmen
First time freshmen may request to defer their admission for up to one year. We call this taking a gap year. The gap year is typically a year-long break between high school and college/university. During the gap year, students generally participate in the following types of activities:
- Employment
- Travel
- Religious study
- Volunteer work
- Military Service
Students cannot defer their admission in order to attend another college or university. Students who attend another college or university after being admitted to Brooklyn College as freshmen must file a transfer application for admission.
Fill out this form and follow the instructions for submitting the nonrefundable $100 commitment deposit by the deadline in your acceptance letter. We will reprocess your application to Brooklyn College as a freshman for up to a year and waive the application fee.
