Are you interested in local history? Considering a career in museums, archives, or education? The academic minor in archival studies and community documentation gives you the opportunity to cultivate a deeper understanding of New York's local communities by learning about their history, geography, culture, politics, and social structures. Through your work in the program, you will also become skilled at selecting and preserving documents and other records based on their enduring value, and creating your own records by conducting oral histories. You'll gain experience in the field by taking two required internships at cultural institutions in New York, and you'll benefit from a popular hands-on course on repairing paper-based documents and books that has just been added to the curriculum.
