†The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Physical Education Teacher major includes one course (SEED 2001) that also satisfies a Pathways requirement. Therefore, students majoring in Physical Education Teacher only need to complete 39 additional Pathways credits.

Students must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 to declare a major in Physical Education Teacher. Students must maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 to remain a major in the program. Physical Education Teacher majors must have a grade point average of 3.0 or greater in required Department of Kinesiology coursework to graduate. Upon exit from the program, candidates will qualify to participate in the NYS directed certification process including EAS and CST exams, and the edtpa portfolio.

Students will need to secure fingerprint clearance for field work in program classes before their second year. Students must also have a tk20-e-folio account for submission of Student teaching materials and the edtpa portfolio in KINS 4410 and 4412.

Students must have a GPA of 2.70 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and sciences to take SEED 2001 and 2002. Students must have a B- or higher in both SEED 2001 and 2002, and a GPA of 2.75 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and sciences, to continue to SEED 3401, KINS 3402, and SEED 3456.

The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.

In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
