†The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Health and Nutrition Sciences (Concentration in Health Science) major includes three courses (CHEM 1040, BIOL 1001, and HNSC 2300) that also satisfy Pathways requirements. Therefore, students majoring in Health and Nutrition Sciences (Concentration in Health Science) only need to complete 33 additional Pathways credits.
The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.
*Students must choose four of the following courses: HNSC 2100, HNSC 2111, HNSC 2131, HNSC 2150, HNSC 2170, HNSC 2171, HNSC 2180, HNSC 2181, HNSC 2182, HNSC 2215, HNSC 2220, HNSC 2221, HNSC 3110, HNSC 3112, HNSC 3161, HNSC 3170, HNSC 3171, HNSC 3230, HNSC 3314.
**Students must choose two of the following courses: HNSC 2183, HNSC 2212, HNSC 3111, HNSC 3132, HNSC 3150, HNSC 3160, HNSC 3162, HNSC 3180, HNSC 3181, HNSC 3184, HNSC 3186, HNSC 3187, HNSC 3188, HNSC 3505, HNSC 4150, HNSC 4151, HNSC 4152, HNSC 4153, HNSC 4300, any HNSC 5000-level course.
Additionally, candidates for a B.S. degree with a major in Health and Nutrition Science must complete at least 24 credits in Health and Nutrition Science at Brooklyn College with a grade of C or higher in each course.
Students going into the health professions (e.g., nursing, physician assistant, physical therapy, etc.) should take KINS 3281 and 3285 instead of HNSC 2300 and 2301.
In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
