Scott Herman was named Chief Operating Officer in July 2015. In this role, he oversees and supports CBS Radio’s 117 local station operations in 26 cities. Previously, Herman was Executive Vice President, Operations for CBS Radio.
Mr. Herman’s first corporate appointment was in 2003 when he was named CBS Radio’s Executive Vice President, Eastern Region. Before that, he was Senior Vice President, Market Manager for the division’s New York properties.
In 1997, Mr. Herman also served as Senior Vice President, Radio News. In that role, he was responsible for CBS News’ relationship with 500 plus affiliated radio stations nationwide.
Mr. Herman is currently an active Board Member of the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), having held the position of Chairman prior. Additionally, he is also a Board Member of the International Radio and Television Society Foundation, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Broadcasters Foundation of America. In May 2011, Mr. Herman received an Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations and Radio Ink magazine has named him one of the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio every year since 2008.
He graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in television and radio, and was recently elected to the Board of Trustees of his alma mater. In 2002 the Brooklyn College Alumni Association named him “Alumnus of the Year.”
Mr. Herman resides in New Jersey with his wife, Beth Amey Herman, also a Class of 1980 graduate of Brooklyn College.
