Don Buchwald ’59 attributes his good fortune to many things and high on that list is being born in Brooklyn and being a graduate of Brooklyn College.
Mr. Buchwald heads a bi-coastal talent agency. The 35 DBA Agents serve the needs of many diverse talent functioning in all areas of the entertainment industry. Mr. Buchwald is directly responsible for a small list of long term clients; among them, Howard Stern.
At Brooklyn College, Mr. Buchwald majored in Theater and was active as well in the Radio & TV Department. Encouraged by a wonderful team of professors and mentors, he found his calling.
After graduation he worked as an actor and theater manager in L.A., NY and various regional posts and in 1964 joined fellow Brooklyn College graduate Monty Silver (Agency); a NY talent company.
Don Buchwald & Associates, Inc. was formed in 1977 & is housed in its’ own building in NYC and on Wilshire Blvd in L.A.
A long term member of the Friars Club (1972), Mr. Buchwald has served as a member of its’ Board of Governors for some years. Most proudly, he has been a member of Trustees of the foundation at Brooklyn College for (20 years). He is the first recipient of the Brooklyn College Theater Alumnus Award, the Alfred Drake Award, Distinguished Alumnus Award & most recently the Second Harvest Award.
Mr. Buchwald lives in Manhattan with his wife Maggie and their weekend home is named “Bensonhurst”. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.
